Discussion on Different set-ups for Free Space Optical Systems

As the title suggests, this interaction focuses on three different set-ups of free-space optical (FSO) communication. We will start with the historical background of FSO system and review traditional data transmission techniques for FSO system. In the first set-up, we will discuss a novel modulation scheme for traditional multi-input multi-output configuration, called optical space shift keying (OSSK). Two recent modified versions of OSSK scheme will also be elaborated.

Heyou Liu

Liu Heyou is an MS/Ph.D. student in the Communication Theory Lab (CTL) under the supervision of Professor Mohamed-Slim Alouini at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). Education and Early Career Liu Heyou obtained his bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2021. He was a summer intern in 2020 before becoming KAUST student in 2021. Research Interest Liu Heyou is focusing in the area of Communications, Statistics, FSO comunications system. Fahad Salem Alqurashi

Fahad Alqurashi is a master’s student under the supervision of Professor Mohamed-Slim Alouini at King Abdullah University of Science andTechnology (KAUST).
