In the context of sixth-generation (6G) networks, emergency management systems based on wireless communications are gaining interest. In an incoming magazine paper, CTL researchers discussed fundamentals and open problems of post-disaster communications with a special focus on the topological aspects. This is because, whenever a disaster strikes, there is a high chance that the telecom infrastructure is compromised, and therefore alternative networks need to be deployed efficiently to enable communications between victims and first responders. Ruibo Wang is a communication engineering graduate from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, who joined KAUST in January 2021. Wang first came to KAUST as a visiting student and was instantly impressed by the University's excellent research atmosphere and high academic standards. This combination of factors piqued his interest in choosing KAUST to further his academic career.

Meet KAUST prospective student: Yingquan Li

Yingquan Li, 21, is an electrical engineering graduate who will join KAUST in the fall of 2020. He will join KAUST as a M.S./Ph.D. candidate in the KAUST Communication Theory Lab under the supervision of Professor Mohamed-Slim Alouini. An initial reference from a supervisor spurred his interest in joining KAUST, which resulted in a visiting student opportunity at KAUST. During his internship, Li was amazed by the facilities and research standard found on campus. It was this combination of impressive factors that inspired him to continue his academic career at the University.
